Gasmask Violence / Vuohi: Hatred united (split)
14/12/11 || The Duff
My second Stub for the site, and shit, I should do this more often; this time a split between Gasmask and Vuohi. The former sounds like Motörhead but with a vocalist who can’t sing. You read that right. Songs that rarely break the two-minute mark, punk-aggro, not in the least bit stimulating, bass-heavy. Not a bad drummer. Vuohi, oddly enough, start off as a Dimension Zero-esque melodic death/black metal band with less memorability, and then finish off the final three of their four tracks as a primitive punk-black outfit. Quite the pairing this split; the vocals of Vuohi have the high, tortured appeal of earliest At the Gates, and I must say are delivered quite resoundingly but without the ominous, despairing tone that made Tomas’ performances so remarkable and unmatched since. I don’t think these would be Stubs if they were much good, but Vuohi seriously aren’t terrible.
4/10 mismatches. Well, one mismatch. Shut up.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
